nchova vs Wispr Flow

A Wispr Flow alternative that stays on your Mac.

Wispr Flow is a polished voice keyboard, and it works by sending what you say to its cloud. nchova does the same job, hold a key, speak, the text appears in any app, with the speech model on your Mac: offline, with no account, and paid once if you pay at all.

In short

Where it listens
Wispr Flow transcribes in its cloud, always. nchova transcribes on your Mac, always.
What it keeps
Wispr Flow stores dictations and trains on them by default on Free and Pro, unless you turn it off. nchova keeps them on your Mac only: it has no servers to send them to.
What you pay
Wispr Flow Pro is $15 a month, or $144 a year. nchova is free, or €29.99 once for Pro.

Where your voice goes

The same sentence, dictated twice. Wispr Flow sends it to its servers, with the app you are in and the text around your cursor, and types what comes back. nchova hands it to a speech model on the Mac.

When Wispr Flow is the better choice

If you dictate on Windows, an iPhone or Android as well as on the Mac, Wispr Flow follows you everywhere. nchova is a Mac app, for Macs with Apple silicon and macOS 26 or later.

If you write in a language that neither Apple nor Parakeet knows, Wispr Flow’s hundred-plus languages cover more ground. And its commands, which rewrite selected text by voice, have no counterpart in nchova, which writes what you said and never adds a word.

If none of that is you, the trade is simple: the same gesture, without your voice leaving the Mac, without an account, without a subscription.

  3. Pick your languages, up to three, and add the names and acronyms you use under Settings › Vocabulary.
